I have been somewhat familiar with archive.org in the past, but by some seredipity/chance/fluke or whatever, I happened to look for classic hollywood films and discovered that there are quite lot available for download! I was particularily impressed with the colourized versions of some familiar classics. I liked that they even have a category for film noir (a favourite genre). Overall, the archive.org seems better and more organized since the last time I dropped by several years ago. --- OpenXP 5.0.58 * Origin: Ogg's Dovenet Point (723:320/1.9) þ Synchronet þ CAPCITY2 * capcity2.synchro.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/Rlogin/HTTP .

The new series "Monsieur Spade" is making me want to go back and watch some of the old black and white noir films, especially The Big Sleep and the Maltese Falcon. There was a poll on Reddit about favorite Noir films. I had to throw in "Body Heat" as neo-noir. .... Re: archive.org = lots of films By: Ogg to All on Sat Feb 24 2024 06:46 pm What archive.org is great at is storing stuff that is very hard to find from official sources. Stuff like Rock Odyssey, for example, which never got official theatrical releases and was aired once or twice in Europe. For years, it only survived in the tapes of home viewers who had bothered to record the TV broadcast when emitted. Now archive.org ensuers it is available. -- gopher://gopher.richardfalken.com/1/richardfalken --- þ Synchronet þ Palantir BBS * palantirbbs.ddns.net * Pensacola, FL .
