Building a garage/shop

I am wanting to build a detached garage/shop that will be next to my
house so I want it to look nice.

The cost of materials has gone through the roof. I am debating on
doing this myself. ANy advice or direction I could use? I am on a
llimited budget and hate to borrow money from the bank.

Someone here had to get rid of a garage , and a friend disassembled it , and
re-built it on his land .

Check into any zoning or HOA restrictions before you worry about
materials, and verify that you can in fact do this.

I suppose the original poster could also look at things like strawbale
and papercrete. These are fairly inexpensive but might involve more
debate and educational efforts among the local code enforcement folks.
