Ooh, good choice. That's a six-parter, so we'll need three hours.

What time zone are you in? I'm GMT -7. I could easily do today or

Do you want to do it today? If so, we'd better start soon. I say we aim

That's a tough call. It's probably Four overall, but I also like Five
quite a bit.

From the new era, I liked all the Doctors in different ways (though Ten
got very whiny), until the show itself started collapsing. I dropped out
partway through the Capaldi years -- Capaldi was good, but the show had
lost direction.

How about you?

I've only heard of that indirectly, so it's easy to ignore. :)

This show wasn't originally supposed to be about how superduperspecial
and important the Doctor is. He's a madman in a blue box. In earlier
iterations, it was clear that the Doctor was just some guy -- a Time
Lord, but not a very highly placed one, just some guy who stole a TARDIS
and ran off to see the universe. He has made a name for himself in some
corners through his actions, but he's not the freakin' Chosen One.

The scariest take on the Time Lords remains The War Games. I was also
okay with the reboot's take that there'd been a Time War and Gallifrey
and Skaros were both gone. That was killer, actually. It respected the
old show while also providing a fresh direction for the new one.

Now... I'm not sure what's going on now. I guess the Doctor is the key
to the universe or something. I don't want to watch that mess.

Is that when you figure it went off the rails? I didn't like that
episode -- it was much more "Look at me, I'm Neil Gaiman" than it was
Doctor Who. I thought the show stayed decent longer, though.

"The Robots of Sherwood" was when I stopped. I didn't really decide to
stop. I just didn't want to watch any more of that.

If I had to pick a single point where it got bad, it would probably be
turning the Master into a woman. MISI would have been a fine new
villain, but instead they did that, being progressive at the expense of
the story and the world.

He turned back into a dude, but it shouldn't have happened in the first
place. They gave us way too many episodes which we had to ignore in
order to keep watching. Eventually, there were too many to ignore.
