I just looked out the window at 13:34 on Sunday October 3rd and spotted my first
Junco, it was a female feeding on seed on a piece of cut stump I have as a
feeding platform, I also noticed that the RBN is back feeding today also..Well
winter isn't far away I guess, there was 4 inches of snow in Rochester this
weekend I heard..

I am back after a very busy summer of work. I too had my first Junco,
Sunday afternoon. I was out filling my feeders and saw it hopping around
under a large white pine tree. I was happy to see this cold weather
visitor.

Glad to be back to the newsgroup and looking forward to a winter of
interesting posts.

We spotted our first one on October 8, 1999, pecking at the spilled
seed below the hanging feeder.

Last year we had dozens for a week for 10 days before they left, perhaps
12 or 15 last Spring.

We're in a suburb of Chicago, in our second year of bird feeding.
