Hello:

I moved to eastern MA recently. Any information about good birding spots or
birding groups one could join would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Joe

Wow, do you have some great birding hotspots to visit. Newburyport and the
Parker River National Wildlife Refuge;  Gloucester and Rockport in winter;
Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge in spring; Cape Cod (especially Manamoy).
Do yourself a favor and purchase "A Birder's Guide To Eastern Massachusetts" by
Bird Observer ($18.95 from ABA Sales at
http://www.americanbirding.org/abasales/catbrg22.htm ) It is an excellent site
guide to the entire region.

Good luck and good birding.

There are a number of books on bird finding in Mass. Go to the American
Birding Association site and look in their ABA Sales catalog. Their url is
http://www.americanbirding.org (well worth joining by the way)

There are many superb sites in E. Mass. To mention just a few:
1. Newburyport & the Merrimack River in winter
2. Parker River NWR (also near Newburyport) all seasons, especially Fall &
winter
3. Monomoy NWR - superb shorebirding, especially fall (on Cape Cod)
4. Ipswich
5. Gloucester & Cape Ann - especially in late fall & winter.
6. Nantucket

There also may bird clubs including the oldest one in America.
The Rare Bird Alert number for E. Mass is (781) 259-8805
