My apologies, because I can't remember if I got this idea from this ng
or if it came from someone on the bread-bakers' list --- I've not tried
it.  BUT, it was suggested to add the cinnamon/sugar mixture at the end
of the final knead (or at the beep when you would add fruits or nuts if
your machine does that) -- like the last 5 minutes before the 1st rise.
Instead of incorporating the mixture throughout the dough, you should
end up with a more 'swirled' effect, which it sounds like you're looking
for.
