I'm looking for a receipe for this. The Moravian Book Store in Winston Salem sells a mix, but I would like to make it from scratch myself. Any help appreciated. Thank you and Happy New Year.

Thank you and Happy New Year. Here is the traditional recipe, which I've tried at home and it is GREAT. -Arielle MORAVIAN LOVEFEAST BUNS recipe by Brother Christian Winkler This recipe dates to the 18th century Moravian settlers of North Carolina. Makes about 30 buns Dissolve for 5 minutes: 2 packages yeast in 1/2 cup warm water Cream together: 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Add and mix in well: 1 cup hot, dry mashed potatoes, unseasoned Add in 1/2 cup lukewarm milk (scald milk, then let it cool a little) Add in, mixing well: 2 eggs, lightly beaten Add in the dissolved yeast mixture Combine spices well, and then mix into yeast mixture: 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg 2 Tbs. Orange rind 2 Tbs. Lemon rind 2 Tbs. Orange juice 1 Tbs. Fresh Lemon juice 1/2 tsp. Mace Add in enough flour to make a soft dough: about 1-1/2 pounds Knead dough on well floured table. Form into ball and place in greased bowl. Cover with cloth and let rise in warm place until double in size (about 2 hours). Pinch down; let rise again 5-10 minutes. Flouring hands well (dough will be sticky), form dough into small (3 0z) balls. Place on cookie sheet. Slash tops with razor blade to release air. Cover and let rise again till double in size. Bake at 350 degrees until golden all over (about 15-20 minutes).
