Saw a CA-legal Robinson Arms M-96 Expeditionary rifle at Trader Sports in San Leandro...the only problem is that they had to remove the pistol grip (though the small metal stud that it mounts on is still there). Given where the stock stops and the receiver begins, it does not lend itself to good trigger finger placemnt unless you've got very long fingers. I was told that trying to add a grip to it would land you to jail, though if you can throw out almost $1500 for something that's marginally functional from an ergonomics standpoint, you'd probably have no trouble making bail. Saw the same sort of gripless thing in the form of a semi-auto MP5 knock-off at a range some time ago. I mean chuckel at the perversion that is CA law. Glad I moved, not so glad I ended up in Idaho but glad to get away from CA. My M-96 has the grip and is legal here. I wonder if some wooden part can be fixed on the CA legal one to make it little more fucntional, kind of like the pistal grip on the later 1903's. Have you seen the CA legal FN FAL's? Almost as funny. Snipe ----------------------------------------------------------- Learn about rec.guns at http://www.recguns.com -----------------------------------------------------------

I saw this same rifle at Traders. The only problem is that they still won't sale it to civilians. I asked and the guy I spoke with said that it is CA legal, but they still would sale it to a civilian. Though, it makes me wonder why they had the version without the pistol grip. ----------------------------------------------------------- Learn about rec.guns at http://www.recguns.com -----------------------------------------------------------

Also, these days Kel-Tec's started to trickle in, so there is no reason whatsoever to bother with M-96 Californian or FAB-10. I wish someone came up with a 5.56mm SKS conversion though... -- Pete ----------------------------------------------------------- Learn about rec.guns at http://www.recguns.com -----------------------------------------------------------

Just heard that now Traders claims it's a CA legal rifle. Just goes to show you that if you ask one guy, you'll get one answer. Ask another, you'll get another answer. Forget who said what unless that who happens to be the CA-DOJ stating that the gun is legal on Department letterhead... /herb -- Radical Islamist terrorists have made this world more dangerous for the rest of us: They want to maim us. They want to kill us. They want to exterminate us--to wipe us off the face of the Earth. The least we could do, is return the favor. ----------------------------------------------------------- Learn about rec.guns at http://www.recguns.com -----------------------------------------------------------
