A friend handed me his franchi AL/48 and asked if i could figure out why when the Acton cycled the gun attempted to load both shells. #From what i have seen it seems that the shell latch is not catching the 2nd shell and letting it follow the first shell through. What i end up with is both shells at the bottom of the receiver jammed up. Can any one give me their thoughts on this? Disassemble the shotgun and give it a thorough cleaning and inspection. Replace any worn or broken parts. Reassemble and try it again. If the problem persists, send it to a gunsmith of Franchi to have it repaired, if you think it is worth it. -- http://home.teleport.com/~larryc ----------------------------------------------------------- Learn about rec.guns at http://www.recguns.com -----------------------------------------------------------

I believe you've got the right idea, but I'd no more attempt to diagnose one of these guns by long distance than I'd do an appendectomy by email. If it's like the Browning, it needs careful handfitting of any replacement parts. Not just for any gunsmith. The 28 ga. one I handled was very nice, it'd be worth fixing. Try the back of the current Gun Digest in the trade listings. IF you can find set of complete action stripdown instructions, clean it thoroughly, sometimes malfunctions are just gummed-up oil and powder residue with the occasional weed seed or corn kernel. See if the local library has the Gun Digest takedown books.
