Colt Python shooting high at short distances

Hi there,

I tried to sight my Colt Python at 10 meters and screwing down the
rear sight I got a point of impact of 10 centimeters over the point of
aim. It is impossible to move the rear sight down any more as it
touches the frame.

Is this usuall?

What I should do?

Cheers.

Try a lighter, faster moving bullet. Increase the height of the front sight.

Change loads, try lighter bullets.

   Sorry, can't help my self.
Try lifting your target up about 4 inches.
The Python was set for the Imperial system.

It's not unheard of. I believe the factory sighted these in at 25
yards, you might just be too close. I've got a Ruger Redhawk that
shoots high with 240 gr. bullets, I had to replace the rear sight
blade. If you can remove the front sight, some are pinned, you could
make/buy/obtain a higher one. I've made them out of old brass house
keys(Yale-type), just because they were easy to file and drill.
Blacken with a marker/paint/brass black. Brownells may have higher
front sights, Millet makes a wide variety of sights,

Alternatives:

Replace the rear sight with one with interchangeable blades, Millet
has such an item.

Increase velocity on your current load, if possible

Go to a lighter bullet

Change your hold

Grip lots harder
