Backup Camera Technical Assistance Needed

I have my first ever truck and fifth wheel on order. Want to install
a rear-view camera on the fiver. Don't really know much about them
yet, but what I want to do is to be able to monitor the backup view on
my laptop computer instead of on a separate screen. Want to be able
to toggle between the GPS moving map program and the rearview image.
How do I do it?

Any suggestions on camera? Brand, location, price? Looking for color
and infared. Also obviously need the feature that "reverses the
image" so it looks correct on the monitor.

Thanks,
Doug

Well I don't have a laptop, so I can't comment on a solution using it as the
monitor for a backup. But I finally put tow brackets on my Saturn, and
during a test to see how it worked, it drove me nuts not to be able to see
it behind me. If it had a flat or other mechanical problem, I would never
know it, until to late.

So I bought from Harbor Freight a $29 all weather B&W surveillance camera
that had 80' of cable and made a wood mounting bracket that I bungied to the
rear ladder. I then ran the cable under the M.H. from the ladder to the
doghouse. I already had a 12V 7" portable TV for the monitor. Now I can see
the toad and how it is tracking clearly. The only modifications I had to do
were to shorten the cable at the ladder end. I keep it coiled under the
spare tire cover and when used just plug it in the camera's RJ jack. I keep
the camera in a storage compartment when not used. It even has a built in
mic.
