Woohoo! For the first time in a long time. all 6 of my bikes are roadworthy and in good running order. Over winter and early spring I rebuilt my 1949 D1 rigid Bantam's gearbox (selection problem), changed all the bearings in the engine of my Di rigid Bantam special (D14 175cc engine) and rebuilt the top end of my "FrankenBantam" (assembled from a load of parts from different models). I was on the point of declaring 6 running bikes when I noticed a small pool of oil under the LH side of the forks on the Suzuki ST400 forks - damn!. Today I change the fork oil seal and filled in the rust pit in the stanchion that probably caused it the leak. I am now a happy bunny. -- Tony FJR1300, Suzuki St400V, BSA C11, BSA Bantams x3

Fortunately, I don't believe I currently need this for any of my fleet of five bikes, <squints at '78 GL1000>.

I cleaned out the rust pit and used carb cleaner to remove any traces of oil. I then filled the pit with a little dab of quick-setting JB Weld so it was only very slightly proud of the surface. After it set, I polished it flat with 1200 grade wet and dry sandpaper (which had practically zero effect on the surrounding chrome). -- Tony FJR1300, Suzuki St400V, BSA C11, BSA Bantams x3

I'm a firm believer that there's almost nothing that J-B Weld can't fix.
