No.

Actually I think the little part was supposed to be permanently atteched
to the lever that operates the choke. Somehow it disappeared between
the car and the ultrasonic cleaner.

Anyhoo, found a spare on ebay so I should be ok.

My garage is full of small items that leap off and then hide.

Reminds me of the time I replaced a gearwheel on a Guzzi 5-speed
gearbox. The gear was secured with a pingfuckit in the form of a small
spring-loaded plunger of about 4-5mm diameter and length. To remove,
slide the wheel over the plunger while depressing it with the tip of a
screwdriver.

I found it eventually. About six months after reassembling the gearbox
with a new one. They were kept in stock.

In mine they often emerge whistling and waving after I've procured
replacements.... if possible I wait a week or two before taking
drastic action.

I've also come to the realization that the surest way to find a lost
item is to buy a replacement. I have found myself to be almost 100%
responsible for losing things, by putting them in a "special place"
where "I'm bound to find it", rather than the usual place where I've
been putting it for > 20 years...

I sure wish I could find my lost car keys. I believe I dropped them in
the driveway a couple of years ago, and my sworn enemy, Mr. Squirrel,
secreted them in his nest high above in the fir tree in the back
yard. I suspect him because he was proven to be responsible for chewing
off and taking numerous light bulbs from our patio lights; I found at
least a half dozen bulbs in their sockets, the lead chewed right off
at the base, under his nest tree, presumably where he discarded them
after realizing they were not in fact a strangely shaped fruit. I'm
still tempted to try to climb up there and take a peek for the keys.

I remember my first mini had twin SUs. I bought new jets for them.
Couldn't figure out why it ran like shit and the sump/gbox kept filling up
with petrol.

Carbs were 1 1/4. Jets were for 1 1/2. Oops. I was very young.

I remember my '64 and '65 MGBs had twin SUs as well. I don't remember
much about them besides having to constantly refill the dashpots
with oil.

All I have left of those cars are an exhaust valve, an MG badge (from
the horn button?), and the Smiths tachometer. And some memories...
