I'm of a certain generation, and so my preferred motorcycle attire is the black leather jacket. I have an 'all weather' jacket for cold and wet rides, but, frankly, if it's cold and wet, nowadays I don't much feel like riding. However, my leather jacket is a bit 'tired', and zip is starting to play up, and it inexplicably seems to have shrunk a bit too. And my all weather jacket is past its best too (which I'll come back too). So I went to my local bike shop looking for a new leather jacket, and found just the job...but it's not made of leather! It really *looks* like leather, but it isn't. It's an RST 'Brixton' [1] - one of these: https://www.rst-moto.com/products/rst-brixton-ce-mens-textile-jacket The material is actually waxed! And it looks good, and when I rode over the mountain the other day, through fog and the temp gauge indicating 11C, I was warm as toast. And the next time I do a summer foreign trip I can remove the lining and open the vents and hopefully not melt too much And the price wasn't bad, either. Blimey, 2 motorcycle related posts from me over breakfast! [1] The name Brixton cannot but conjure up images of inner city riots in the early 80s. I'm sure the place is fully gentrified nowadays, with property costing half a million or more. -- Champ neal at champ dot org dot uk I don't know, but I been told You never slow down, you never grow old

Jean had ome, it was a right PITA on long bike trips. I'd ride on into the rain/cloud/snow and not think about it as I was wearing my HG. Jean would get wet putting the lining back in, or just get wet not bothering as in the tropics she would end up roasting. -- Bruce Porter "The internet is a huge and diverse community but mainly friendly" http://ytc1.blogspot.co.uk/ There *is* an alternative! http://www.openoffice.org/

No, I don't think so, and for the life of me I can't imagine why you'd want the *lining* of a jacket to be waterproof. It's the outside that is waterproof. The lining is for warmth. -- Champ neal at champ dot org dot uk I don't know, but I been told You never slow down, you never grow old

Crap idea mind, and if using these trousers on a tour, I prefer to fit overtrousers if it rains, as you would do with leathers.

I don't, which is why I have never bought one. Jean was just never able to get a decent "womens" jacket to fit her/ > > It's the outside that is waterproof. The lining is for warmth. Ha. I've just sweated like Gary Glitter at a kindergarten party moving my orphaned BMW to KL to transfer the title to my BiL to see if he can sell it. 360km with the temp gauge showing 35 and the bikes cooling fan ducted heated air at my legs. -- Ian "Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest" outside
