Well, reekites. Having been away for a few months, I thought I might give
you a comprehensive list of things I did thus far on my summer vacation.
I lived, learned, and enjoyed my respite I might add.

1. Got a new trailer! Fits my three bikes, my brothers bike, and is just
under the max. load (just barely).
2. Mosport: been there, done that, got a my name in a file in Canada for
immigration difficulties. Seems if you have had an alcohol related
incident, itll cost you to cross the border. Better do it during the
daylight hours and bring some extra cash. It cost my brother $130 American
to cross the border. To add to it, they got us mixed up and now it is me
who has my name in the computer.
3. Learned how to repack bearings on the side of the road at 11pm on Friday
of a holiday weekend.
4. Ran into a friend 300 miles from home while packing bearings on the side
of the road at 11pm on Friday of a holiday weekend. It is a small world. I
was never so happy to see her. To add to my dismay, she had a floor jack in
the back of her car.
5. Learned how to size bearing races on the side of the road at 11pm on
Friday of a holiday weekend.
6. Said goodbye to some life long friends as I departed New York via Poconos
International Raceway.
7. Drug my knee on the ground while it was raining!! There is something
just wicked about having drops of rain splatter on the visor and hearing the
scuff of my puck chattering on the surface of the track.
8. Learned how to change a tire on a trailer.
9. Bought a spare tire for my trailer.
10. Deals Gap
11. Had fun controlling the trailer when the new tire blew out, again.
12. Learned that it is tough to find the proper load/wear rated tire for a
trailer designed for snowmobiles in Arkansas.
13. Became much quicker changing tires on my trailer in Texas.
14. Had the opportunity to trade my guns and whiskey with a waitress in
Tehachapi.
15. Decided to keep my guns and whiskey for a better offer.
16. Had a neighbor offer me a free motorcycle.
17. Learned there is no such thing as a free motorcycle.
18. Learned how to operate a pop rivet gun while replacing the surface of my
new trailer.
19. Split lanes in Milpitas
20. Rode Mines Road.
21. Split lanes in San Jose
22. Rode Skyline.
23. Split lanes in Los Gatos.
24. Stopped by Alices.
25. Split Lanes in San Fransico.
26. Rode the Marin Headlands.
27. Split Lanes in Oakland.
28. Rode to Yosemite and back. If you are in the area, RIDE 120. Make sure
the road is empty and take it down in big gulps.
29. Wore my front tire out before my back! Must ease up on the trail
braking and get harder compound tires for my front end. MEZ 1s are not for
me.
30. Had the demons exorcised from my possessed trailer.
31. Went to Michigan for a track day with the Ducati Owners of Canada
(registered long before I had the notion of moving to CA).
32. Tried the new Rennsport RS2s. Cannot say enough about them to do them
justice (clap clap clap). Try a set next time you need race rubber.
33. Learned that even though you get stuffed by Brian Catterson the previous
year at the same track rally, it is bad form to pass him into an off camber
turn, lay a sparky knee puck on the ground, and shower him with titanium
bits just to show how much you have improved in the last twelve months.
34. Got the chance to see some of my best friends in the world at the
Grattan raceway. Best track event I have ever had the pleasure of
attending.
35. Bought another Honda Hawk. It is always better to have five motorcycles
than only four after all.
36. Came home from Michigan.
37. Thanked the deity that watched over my wonderful trailer and sacrificed
a new radial in his honor.
38. Took Brian out for beers the next week in LA and ended up owing him yet
another round after he picked up the tab. True gentleman We made plans for
next years Grattan Rally.
39. Met a crew of riders from LA for their weekly Two Wheel Tuesday bench
racing/beer drinking session. Man, these guys are fast
40. Saw one of the guys from the LA crew the next Tuesday on TV while in my
hotel room in Nebraska while watching American Thunder (ach!
Ptthhhuuuuiieee). He was testing the speed characteristics of a Fat Boy in
super hero colored Technic leathers on a closed course out in the desert.
Great comedy, I gave it two thumbs up.
41. Laughed even harder when a pick-up truck caught the bulbous bike in the
twisties.
42. Cried when I found out Speedvision is not a channel available from my
local cable station.
43. Found out I will need to be in Chicago the week after a track event that
I was just telling my Mid-Western friend I would have to miss. Might just
make it.
44. Learned that Adam Wade took the opportunity to take a ride with the Doc
Wong crowd, show off his skills, and tested the crashability of his riding
gear. Sorry chum, I hope you get it back together soon. ;)
45. Started to pack for Cayuga. The track event is the 9th and 10th of
September in Canada. Anyone else want to join me? Great way to end a summer
vacation.

Cheers!

I get speedvision now, as of last week, and there's been plenty of bike
racing/programming for me to watch while sore and on the couch.

SV is not Nascar all the time. Not yet at least.
All the races from AMA, WSB and GP are on SV.

The an antenna on my roof. Got it at Radio Shack. Works good.

Never looked into it. My dog just has to watch what I watch. :)

its not yet. its heading for about 50% nascar, but it will still
cover motorcycle races, formula 1, etc the other 50% of the time.

>And how do you get your primary channels? And lastly, if you have two or

screw the local channels. you *can* get the strong ones with rabbit
ears or whatever.

Dish Network (DirectTV's primary competitor) charges $5/month for each
additional reciever with the same programming package. To do this,
they require all recievers be hooked up to the same phone number so
they can verify them (the recievers check in periodically to a 800
number, maybe once a week in the wee hours of the AM, mostly this is
used to upload PPV info). The standard dish they use easily supports
two recievers, more than two either requires a relay switch box, or
using an additional dish. I'm sure DirecTV is similar.

Now that Speedvision is all Nascar all the time, what channels are you
getting with motorcycle races on direct TV?
And how do you get your primary channels? And lastly, if you have two or
more TVs for your your four teenagers, how do you split the signals and are

I'm thinking of making the switch but these seem like trouble areas.

How did you fix your trailer problem? I've got a trailer that wants to
periodically destroy its' right tire. I drive slow, but the tire still runs
hot.

SpeedVision is anything BUT NASCAR, they have just a single 30 minute
show about NASCAR, I get my Nascar news from TNN or TNT.

DirecTV broadcasts local channels in major areas. Nothing like crap
programming with a crystal clear picture! They charge a surcharge of
about $5 per extra decoder, the main expense is you have to have a
seperate decoder for each tv or a dual lnb decoder for two. The dish
will only support dual lnb's so you have to get another dish, for more
than two tv's unless you want to watch the same thing on multiple tv's
then all you need is a video router.

There ain't enough things watching to use up a single tv much less 4.

well.... Fox aka News Corp is buying (or has bought) Speedvision.
See, Rupert Murdoch owns a big chunk of NASCAR, Inc these days too. He
is planning on turning it into The NASCAR Channel and running about 12
hours a day of saturation bombing level NASCAR coverage. Scary, eh?

Also available through DishNetwork. Right now DN has been advertising the
first 12mos of service for $9 with purchase of a receiver costing at least
$199. DN is negotiating to buy DirecTV (or is it the other way 'round).
IMO, DirecTV has a better package if all you want is Speedvision without
hundereds of channels of ESPN. DirecTV switched Speedvision from the sports
package to one of the mainstream packages.
>
> And how do you get your primary channels?

Over the air as others have stated, or if you live in an area where that's a
problem, the network feeds are available through DirecTV for about $6 extra.
Their website has a page where you can figure out if you're eligible.

> And lastly, if you have two or

Buy a "dual LNB" receiver, which feeds two sets independently. The receiver
costs more, but I believe the subscription isn't. Or switch the kids to
activities that develop and require skills like creative thinking, delayed
gratification, and physical activity,

> I'm thinking of making the switch but these seem like trouble areas.

Since installing the antenna is something you don't want to do often,
consider installing an oval dish which receives the HDTV signal.

We've gotta do something about this cross-border shit. the Canadian
border wankers, (and some of the 'merican ones too) are total assholes.

If we've *really* got free trade, we should have open borders similar to
Germany/France.

I replaced the hub and the bearings on the side that kept blowing out. I
also got the highest load limit tires with the longest wear I could afford

Even with all the paint chips I ingested as a wee lad, I was able to pull
out my pocket calculator and total the weight of the motorcycles. I then
compared it to the load limit indicated on the tag on the trailer. I was
right at the limit.

The main problem was my lack of maintenance expierience at the out set. I
cooked a set of bearings on the right side of the trailer. The hub got
warped. The tire rubbed the side of the trailer. When I boshed it together
with parts from the Auto Aid store and headed back out.

Later on down the road, the weakened sidewall let go. I did not think much
of the load needs of the tire and replaced it in Arkansas with what even we
could find. I was luckey enough to have blown out in front of a
camper/travel trailer dealer (There is a higher power that looks out for his
warriors). I really had no choice if I wanted to keep rolling. I was able
to find a 4 ply tire and get back on the road.

Eight hours later, deep in the wilds of Oklahoma, same thing happened. This
time I wrongly assumed it was just because the hub was warped and generating
heat into the tire. It probably was, but not as bad as I had thought. As a
goof we looked over the fence where we got stranded. Would you believe a
boat dealer with a trailer scrap yard? We thought it was a mirage (my angel
is there for me way too often..). Again, the only tire we could find was
the 4 ply. But I was able to get the hub replaced.

It made it to Texas before it gave way again. I had just blown through
Amarillo and was stranded in front of a junk yard (like I said...I am in
good with my god). They direct us to a discount tire dealer. They got us
on the road the next morning. I purchased two new 8 ply high load and wear
tires.

The trailer has since gone from Amarillo to San Jose, from there to
Minneapolis, on to Grand Rapids (I stop next time Bob), to Colorado Springs,
and back to San Jose with out so much as a squeek. The poltergist is gone!

Two weeks in September and two in October. I am working out the details of
getting my track bike to town to attend an event in Canada the first
weekend.

That's coming into California, we do that. Not leaving.

Oh, and that's not shoe polish in that tin.

Ain't that the truth!

I just saw a video. Some canadian was crossing south and had a video
tape camera with him. He was a commedian by trade. He was goofing
off taking a video of the border patrol agent as he was talking to him
he was being silly but harmless. The agent got all huffy and shoved
his hand in the camera, told him to shut it off.

What do they have to hide d'ya think? Hmmmmmmmmmmm?

Let's see, they take video of us crossing either way, but we can't do
the same?

Shoe polish produces marvelous highs when ingested. "Old Spice" cologne is
fine but gives horrific hangovers and thunderous headaches. Insist on
another brand.

Nikita.

PS: For educational purposes only. Don't try this at home.

Uhhhhh... When was the last time you crossed the border? There's more
cameras on both sides than you'd find in a flock of Japanese tourists!

Not long ago, months it was. I know they're on both sides.

So have I. They pissed me off, and made me laugh at the same time.
Kind of a trajedy and a comedy. In other words, border guards act out
summit like Shakespear.

Shakespear for idiots.
